We all know the key beauty rules, and it may seem as though our unicorn makeup brushes and oval brush set bring many rules to the table that we need to follow. However, sometimes it’s okay to break a rule that you always thought was solid, and it could actually have a positive effect on the way that you look. With this in mind, we have put together a blog containing some of the rules that you don’t always have to keep.
Wash your hair every day
You may have heard that you should wash your hair every time you have a shower, but that might not be the best thing to do. This is because it can get rid of the natural oils in your hair, and your hair might start to look dull and dry if you wash it too often. You should try starting to wash your hair every other day, and see how you feel about it. You may find that it looks a little greasy to begin with, as you hair can adapt to the amount that you wash it, but if you stick with it, it should improve.
Only put mascara on your top lashes
It was thought in the past that putting mascara on your lower lashes caused your eyes to look smaller, however thanks to the advances in makeup this is definitely no longer the case at all. Modern mascaras are made to make lashes look big and beautiful, and they can open your eyes up rather than having the closing effect that was avoided in the past.
Use a face mask every week
Skincare is something that most of us are told a lot about, and you might have been told in the past that you should try to use a face mask every week. Although there are definitely benefits of doing this if your skin could use a bit of lift, if you are already cleansing, toning and exfoliating twice a day there is probably little that a face mask can do. It can feel good though, as a way of relaxing at the end of a day, so if you do feel like using a mask then don’t feel as though you have to resist!
You must use a foundation brush
Lots of people will tell you that you should use a brush to apply your foundation, but sometimes the best tool can be your own fingers. Of course, you should make sure they’re clean first as you don’t want to spread germs, but it can be great to work in this way as you have much better control over the product that you’re applying.
Although you probably don’t like breaking rules, if you give it a go you may find that you see a positive difference in the way that you are able to apply your makeup. If you don’t like the result then by all means change back to the way you were doing it before – but it is worth giving it a go at least. To find out more beauty rules to break click here.
