Liverpool is getting deliciously dark on 15 August, when Frogfest brings goth, darkwave, EBM, coldwave and post-punk to the Baltic Triangle. That calls for a face with enough drama for the dance floor and enough staying power for a full day of stomping. 🖤
This look mixes smoked-out black, one electric chartreuse accent and a pitch-black lip: unmistakably cybergoth, but easy to customise for every face, eye shape and comfort level. No perfection required. Darkwave makeup should look better after the first bass drop.
Step 1: Build a base that can breathe
Festival makeup lasts longer when the layers underneath are light. Prep with your usual moisturiser, allow it to settle, then apply a thin base only where you want coverage. Keep powder targeted around the nose, forehead and chin rather than flattening every inch of skin. A little natural glow beside a brutal black eye looks wonderfully alive — or undead, depending on the lighting.
