Ghost Brows for Goths: How to Fake the Bleached Brow Trend Without Bleach

Bleached brows are haunting 2026 beauty, but commitment is optional. Learn how to create a soft, spectral ghost brow with makeup, then frame it with smoky eyes and a bitten...

Bleached brows have floated back onto 2026 red carpets, but you do not need to reach for bleach to join the pale, otherworldly fun. Ghost brows use makeup to soften the natural brow until it almost disappears, leaving dark shadow, sharp liner and a stained lip to take centre stage. The effect is eerie, editorial and wonderfully reversible.

This version works across brow colours and skin tones. Your aim is not to erase every hair. Instead, you are creating a low contrast veil that makes the eyes look larger and stranger. Think elegant spectre rather than missing brows. 🦇

Step 1: Prep the brow hairs

Start with clean, dry brows. Brush the hairs upwards, then slightly outwards, following their natural direction. If your brows are dense, work in thin layers and let each layer settle before adding more product. A tiny touch of translucent face powder can remove surface oil, which helps the next layer grip.

Step 2: Paint on your ghost veil

Choose a shade of Second Skin Concealer that sits close to your complexion. For the most natural ghost brow, avoid choosing a dramatically lighter shade. Press a very small amount through the hairs with a clean spoolie, moving against the growth first, then smoothing them back into place. This coats both sides of the hair instead of only colouring the top.

Keep the front of the brow softer and build a little more coverage through the arch and tail. If the skin around the brow looks heavy, tap the edges with a fingertip. The finish should feel hazy, not pasted on.

Step 3: Set the illusion

Lightly press Smooth and Set Brightening Powder in Sugar over the coated hairs with a small fluffy brush. Use less than you think you need. Too much powder can make the brow look chalky, while a delicate veil gives that soft spectral finish.

Deeper complexions can use the same technique with a complexion matched concealer and a light touch of powder. The magic comes from lowering contrast, not forcing every brow to become white.

Step 4: Add a shadowy eye

Once the brows fade back, the eyes become the spell. Sweep a cool taupe or muted grey from the Spellbound Palette through the crease and beneath the lower lashes. Build the shape outwards towards the temple, keeping the edges smoky and soft.

Deepen the outer corner with black shadow, then add a pinpoint inner corner highlight if you want a moonlit flash. The pale brow creates plenty of drama already, so there is no need to make every edge severe.

Step 5: Choose your liner mood

For precise, blade sharp definition, sketch a slim wing with the Infinity Eyeliner Pen. Keep the line thin near the inner corner and let it stretch beyond the eye. If you prefer something more lived in, press the Smoulder Eyeliner Pencil in Black along the lash line and soften it with a small brush.

Finish with Amplified Mascara, concentrating extra product at the outer lashes for a lifted, nocturnal shape.

Step 6: Give the look a bitten lip

Balance the ghostly upper face with a diffused lip. Tap Eternal Lip Stain in Grunge into the centre of the mouth, then blur it outwards with a fingertip or small brush. Leave the edges imperfect for a romantic, just awakened from the crypt finish. 🖤

Make it yours

For daytime, pair the faded brow with taupe shadow, mascara and a soft stain. At night, intensify the black around the eyes and sharpen the liner. You can also leave a few darker hairs visible at the front for texture. Ghost brows are meant to feel uncanny, not uniform.

Remove the brow layers gently with your usual cleanser, especially if you brushed product against the direction of growth. No bleach, no commitment, and no waiting for regrowth.

All Jolie Beauty products featured here are vegan and cruelty free, so your ghost brow ritual can stay kind while looking deliciously haunted.
